Abzal Hossain, Ph.D.
Abzal obtained M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry from McGill University, Canada. He worked as collaborator with Genome Quebec (/Canada) at plant genome project during his post-doctoral studies (2005). In 2006, he joined N.H.P Laboratories Inc. and shortly after became its manager. Several hundreds of advanced analytical techniques for natural health products analysis were implemented to N.H.P Laboratories under his dynamic leadership. Abzal has strong knowledge in United States, British, and European Pharmacopeias, as well as ICH, GLP, and ISO 17025 guidelines. He is professional member of American Chemical Society (ACS) and Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC). His areas of expertise include: Analytical chemistry, chromatography, enzyme assay, microbial culture, method development and method validation.
Serge P. Kuate, Ph.D.
Serge manages the Quality management system of the Laboratory. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany) in 2008 focusing on enzymes purification and characterization. Prior to studying in Germany, he graduated from Cameroonian universities. Between 2008-2012, he worked as Scientist at international research institutions including Rothamsted Research (England, UK) and the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE). His qualifications include chromatographic and spectral techniques (LC-MS/MS, HPLC, GC-MS, etc.), electrophoretic techniques (SDS-PAGE, Native PAGE) as well as microbiology (fungi and bacteria) and enzymatic activity. Serge is also specialized in Quality Assurance of Health Products. Since March 2014, Serge is Research Scientist at N.H.P. Laboratories where he mainly focuses on Analytical Testing and Methods Development and Validation. His research outputs are documented as publications in several peer-reviewed journals.
Shan Bai, M.Sc.
Shan joined N.H.P. Laboratories in 2009. Prior to joining, she studied biochemistry from Bishop’s University (Sherbrooke, Quebec) where she obtained a bachelor degree. Afterwards, she obtained a master degree in structured lipids in the department of food science and agricultural chemistry of the McGill University. Shan has an extensive laboratory experience on quantitative and qualitative analyses. She works closely with the laboratory director to address technical issues in routine testing. She devotes herself in method development and method validation of botanic products. She is also responsible for procurement and the technical training for new analysts. Shan is a trained internal auditor for ISO/IEC 17025.
